During my 12-week internship at Amway, I reimagined the LOS Tree Map, a core feature of Amway’s MyBiz platform that helps independent business owners track growth and identify key contributors. I collaborated with business strategists and the lead designer on the Global Digital Design team.

Due to NDA restrictions, I cannot share all details and screens I worked on. Please contact me at sameehasiraj179@gmail.com for more information.

The Challenge

Amway IBOs didn’t have a clear, intuitive way to view their full LOS tree, especially contributors at the far end. The existing map used a complex web interface, lacked the modern Amway design system, and provided no SOP visibility, making it hard for business owners to track growth, identify high performers, and take timely actions. Without this clarity, Amway risked slower network growth, missed opportunities, and underperformance across its independent business owners.

To address this, I redesigned the map to provide better navigation, actionable insights, and SOP tracking.

How might we empower IBOs to navigate their full LOS tree with clarity and confidence?

Design Principles

Clarity at Scale

Present large and complex LOS networks in a way that is visually clear, navigable, and aligned with Amway’s modern design system.

Actionable Insights

Highlight key growth metrics, SOP status, and contributor performance to support informed, timely decision-making.

Seamless Navigation

Enable IBOs to move effortlessly through every level of their tree: from frontlines to the furthest branches without friction or confusion.

My Approach

I needed to first understand the fundamentals of Amway’s direct-selling business. By working with global business experts, I learned concepts like SOP requirements, frontlines, and network growth structures, which clarified what IBOs truly need from the LOS Tree Map and why they rely on it.

Stage 4. User Feedback & Refinement

Facilitated user testing with a diverse group of app users, gathering insightful feedback on the redesign. This phase was crucial in identifying unforeseen usability issues and validating the effectiveness of the new design elements. Iterative refinements were made based on this feedback, fine-tuning the app's interface to maximize user satisfaction and engagement.

Stage 5. Implementation & Launch Support

Collaborated closely with the development team to ensure a smooth transition from design to implementation. Provided ongoing support and guidance during the development phase, addressing any design-related challenges that arose. Played a key role in the app's successful relaunch, monitoring user feedback and engagement post-launch to inform future updates.

Outcomes

The redesigned fitness tracker app received overwhelmingly positive feedback from users, who praised its improved usability, engaging design, and motivational features. The project was a significant learning opportunity, enhancing my understanding of user-centric design principles and the impact of design on user behavior and app retention.
